Diplurus newarki - partial specimens - skull and bodies...

Conchostrachans Estheria ovata.

Note the scales visible on the body portions.

These do not always get preserved.

Late Triassic, Lockatong Formation.

North Bergen, New Jersey.

Tim,

I noticed the thin shale that usually coats these specimens isn't present in this case. Maybe that's why we can see scales, finely detailed bones, etc. Did you remove it or did you find it that way?
