Great White Shark Tooth (Neonate)

Carcharodon carcharias (Neonate)

Pisco Formation, Departamento de Arequipa, Sitio Sacaco, Peru

Right Upper Lateral

A small tooth from a young-of-the-year great white (~ 1.5 m / 5 ft total length). Teeth of these very young individuals are narrower than adult teeth, and possess lateral "cusplets" - features that aid in their piscivorous (fish-dominated) diet.
