In most cases in your post you will want to include a picture or pictures. We ask that you please follow a few simple rules. IF you are posting using the boards picture upload system please be sure to resize your pics. A good picture size is about 1000px in width height does not matter, and the picture file size should be around 200kb files larger than this can make it so some members cannot download within a reasonable amount of time. If you do not have a good image editor, we recommend
IrfanView. This program is also good for cropping which is also a very very good idea. Cropping allows you to make your fossil easier to view, you may also wish to use the programs brightness and contrast features to help correct lighting conditions and to make the fossil stand out even more. Another good practice is to take several pictures at many angles, this is especially important for fossil identification.
It is preferred that you upload your images directly to the forum and not through a photo sharing site. The reason why is simple sometimes the photos are deleted off the photo site and then this leaves a blank box on this site that says photo not available. IF you do use a site such as photobucket please size your images for use on bulletin boards or at about 600px wide.
Here are some examples of images to show why we ask you to follow this guide.
