Welcome from huntsville area. I am in Florida right now, but will be collecting at point-A dam on my way home Monday morning. That is near Andalusia. Near you is Catoma Creek if you have not hunted there yet.

Hi:

I am long time fossil hunter from the carolinas who has just gotten back from Iraq (no time for fossil hunting over there). I recently moved to Birmingham and am in school again at UAB... I am planning on joining the Birmingham Paleontological Society soon and will also hope to hunt the Point A Dam area at some point. Can you still turn up tiger shark, sand-shark, and even small C. auriculatus teeth in the tailrace canal of the dam there? I have some friends from Texas who mentioned that they had found a small and damaged fragment of such a tooth there once...but that was probably 10 years ago...

Hello and Weclome,
You can find all those and much more at Point-A. However, you are not in any dam canal, the fossils are in the river bank where the sand sites on top of clay. Search around in this forum and you will probably find more details about that site. Wait for the temps to drop!! Good luck
