Hello fossil-hunters,
I posted on this site a few weeks ago asking about where to go looking on the north shore.
In the end I went to Turrimetta and Long reef and found a few specimens of a seedfern which the museum of nsw said were fossils of Dicroidium- they're not spectacular finds, but still I was pleased with having found something.
Anyway, I'm thinking of going to Lithgow next and I'm wondering where I could go looking near Lithgow- apparently the fossils are in rocks from the Permian time. I don't actually have my own transport and would be catching the train to Lithgow and then going on foot. I'm also wonndering if someone could tell me what the rocks containing fossils near Lithgow look like.
I really appreciate any advice someone may have and will certainly let you know how I go.

There's a rather large road cut just out of lithgow that apparently has some plant fossils. It's about 5km from the railway station which is walkable if you're keener (and fitter lol) than I am.
