This forum's topics flow like conversations, they start on on the topic described but almost every time the topic will be lost in conversation and you never know where it is going, we like it that way it keeps the board friendly and makes for interesting reading. That being said it is important for new members to read over older posts, even if the topic doesn't sound interesting, you may find that it really is interesting.

Good advice, Anson. However, it will be become more and more difficult to "catch up" with past threads as threads and posts accumulate.

Allow me to suggest that you label significant threads that diverge from the original topic, just as you plan to label "what is it?" and "look at this!" threads. The second line of the topic header could be amended to read "morphed to xxyyzz" or "also xxyyzz".

It's more work for the moderating team, but I don't think you'd have to do it too often. I think it would help enormously in searching past threads.

Spending time in the field is addicting, but there are so many interesting things to read about on here my wife may never see me again. Good advice.
