Being that this forum is populated by young and old and is geared for everyone's use we want to keep things clean. That's where language comes in there have been in the past some members who used some words that would not be considered by all as appropriate. So far this problem has been corrected by the moderators editing post content, but we would like to see more members take the initiative to not use such words. Now I cant really give you a list of words not to use but the simplest answer is don't use any word that could be considered inappropriate by anyone following the strictest standards. We want our forum to be available for use in schools and all homes worldwide.

Dag-nabbit, you're taking all the gosh darn fun out posting!

(actually I agree, no need to make this place R-rated)

What about names like " "

(that should get deleted)

There are language filters on school computers, and even comparatively mild language will prevent the Forum from reaching the next generation of potential fossil enthusiasts. There are plenty of substitute "oaths" that can be used for effect :)

if they sound too erudite to be true, they probably aren't. don't bother looking up "erudite". it's a type of crystalline mineral, somewhat like evaporitically anhydrous magnesium sulfate.

besides, it's the only way i can compensate for the fact that i'd have to go back in time a couple of decades and study from then to now to be able to sling around the scientific jargon like some of the brainiacs on here.

You've got brainiacs around the world sheepishly scratching their heads (if sheep can do that). Rock On!

Yes! I see you can delete part of a post and leave the rest there.

I'll watch it from now on!

you know, you could kill two fossil birds with one septaria here by just switching the language of the board to esperanto. that would be a very international gesture, in addition to elimiinating all the thlips of the tongue. um, input device.

look, um, ms. texan, i've got a job to do here. the job is to post serious, scientific information of universal import worthy of nobel nomination. i shouldn't have time to take for the sole porpoise of clarifying his Rootiness' rules, but i shall just in this one instance. Don't be dissin' no Dang Bettles no more, or we bees on you like a duck on a june bug. carpeesh?

see? you can say all that kind of stuff i said up there. i mean people will "tsk, tsk" about you, but still, you can say it. (i think, but when in doubt, his Roothood wins out.) anyway, if you start talking about the kind of fossils auspex likes and stinging insects preserved in amber, you should put those two things in different posts. and don't try to talk like mr. carlin would have, either. because if you trip over a Root around here, he's got a button like that one in the wonka movie elevator that said, "Up and Out", and if he pushes it, you'll be assisting in the search for extraterresticles (can i say that?).

tracer, I am begining to think that you have multipaticular personalities that come out soley in conglomerate speech patterns. If only we could compile everything you say and print it in a book...it would make a good reading while doin our tsk tsk tsk business in the water closet. I'll stick the first copy right next to my comode.

Now, even I have no idea what I am talking about...as you can see, I am so clever in what I say that even I do not even understand myself sometimes.

Go ahead and laugh at me all you want to.

;)
