“The 38th annual Geodeland Earth Science Clubs, Inc.’s (GESCI) Rock, Gem, Mineral and Fossil Show will be held Saturday-Sunday, March 10-11 in the Western Illinois University Union Grand Ballroom.
The show is open from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday. Admission and parking are free, but a free-will donation is used to obtain feature displays for each year’s show.
This year’s theme is “Digging the Past: Fossils from Around the World,” and highlights a program by WIU Assistant Professor of Geology Thomas Hegna.

Dr. Richard McCrea from the Peace Region Palaeontology Research Centre in Tumbler Ridge, BC will show the numerous dinosaur trackways in Alberta, B.C. and the Yukon. Tammy Pigeon will describe the discovery and preparation of B.C.’s first dinosaur skull. Dr. Francois Therrien of the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Palaeontology in Drumheller will discuss the latest conclusions on Alberta’s Late Cretaceous climate change. Six other talks feature the latest fossil discoveries and palaeontological research. 
This event is FREE to the public, is family friendly and no registration is required. Paleo 2018 is sponsored by the Alberta Palaeontological Society, Mount Royal University and the Canadian Society of Petroleum Geologists Palaeontological Division.

This coming weekend is the Earth Science Club of Northern Illinois (E.S.C.O.N.I.) Gem / Mineral & Fossil Show at the DuPage County Fairgrounds located at (2015 Manchester Road, Wheaton, Illinois 60187). The show is held in Buildings 2 & 3 and the best part is parking and admission to the show is FREE.
 
The show hours are as follows:
 
Saturday 3-24-18 (10am-5pm)
Sunday 3-25-18 (10am-4pm)
 
There are multiple dealers, displays, demonstrations, door prizes and a Kids Corner.
