Odd fish!!! can you explain what  am seeing.

Found a picture of Bassanichthys pesciaraensis   which looks very similar to yours.

The article would not allow me to copy the image

I guess the picture is from this publication (Link): G. Carnevale, A. F. Bannikov, G. Marramá, J. C. Tyler, and R. Zorzin. 2014. The Pesciara-Monte Postale Fossil-Lagerstätte: 2. Fishes and other vertebrates. Rendiconti della Società Paleontologica Italiana 4:37-63.

The captions are a bit confusing:

Fig 4-b (Ramphosus rastrum) refers to this picture on page 51:

    Ramphosus.JPG.4a0b7d4ed636ff4a4d92a57a9238519e.JPG

    whereas
Fig 7-b (Bassanichtys pesciaraensis) refers to this picture on page 54:

    Bassanichthys.JPG.9a87c8c777cfe9a61896ea8b741eac3b.JPG

Ramphosus rastrum could have looked something like a "slim" (recent) Macroramphosus scolopax:

I agree, a very odd looking fish!

PS: Bassanichthys pesciaraensis is already in "Collections":
