Originally described from the Oligocene of Belgium (préliminaire sur des poissons nouveaux de l'Oligocène Belge, Leriche 1909) this tooth conforms well to the description. It is a rarely found tooth in Castle Hayne Deposits of North Carolina. Very similar to the Miocene A. vulpinas, I believe they cannot be the same with such a small sampling and a 25-million-year separation.
