    This silvery gray crown of a fossil Crinoid is quite impressive for its vascular arrangement of arms and protruding aboral cup. However, it is the nature of
    its preservation that makes this piece very special. The fossil is pyritized as the metallic mineral Pyrite replaced the organic matter during mineralization.

    The first image is not my photo, from the dealer, the close-ups I took with my old iPhone 5S with a clip on macro lens attachment. It is a piece that I saw and had to have. Imagine finding something like this?! It makes me want to take a trip to Lucas County, Ohio!

    I see the measurements are listed as cm when it should be inches. I guess I screwed up there somehow. How can you edit this information?

    Indeed a keeper of a specimen!  Appears that the secondary re-crystallization of FeS is gentler on the substrate than say the prevalent siliceous takeovers.
