The dimensions given are for the largest specimen. The block is 11.5 com at it's widest point by 10 cm and 2 cm deep.

Most of the of the other species ascribed to this genus in Morocco are now considered junior synonyms.

    See https://link.springer.com/chapter/10.1007%2F978-3-319-04364-7_199

Notice that they are all aligned in one direction as they were buried by a mudflow sweeping in from the continent. The arms, bodies and stems are all pretty much aligned. This seems to have occurred fairly regularly in this area at this time.

Also notice younger, smaller specimens have fewer plates and arms.

Thanks for sharing. I recently acquired similar plate for my collection but it was identified as "Scyphocrinites CRINOID Fossils from Morocco 488 Million Years Old".

Sorry KOI but they are definitely not Scyphocrinites. The photo I’m attaching is a Scyphocrinites. Tidgys dads I’d is correct.

Thanks, Randyw. Clearly, I should not put my trust in online vendors for correct identification of fossils they sell.

    Thanks, peeps.

@KOI Ascocystites is rarer than Scyphocrinites here, so you've done alright, I reckon. :)

Ascocystites are fine with me. They are a bit unusual and interesting animals. Here is a video featuring the slab we bought on online. A piece of carpoid was also among eucrinoids. This Moroccan rock was fun to study. Thanks again to Tidgy's Dad for posting the photos.
