The Rott fossil Fossillagerstätte (Rott district of the town of Hennef) is a limnic deposit of Upper Oligocene fossils known in paleontology because of the richness and exceptionally good preservation of fossil plants and animals. Although the site was already designated as a natural monument in 1942, a golf course was built on the former mine site in 1986.
