Opalised Fossils

Opalised Fossils
An album showcasing my collection of opalised fossils from Australia. I am still in the process of expanding this collection and so will continue to add pictures of any new specimens I acquire.

The focus of this opal fossils collection is on rare specimens not often seen for sale, particularly opalised vertebrate fossils, that are unique to Australia and hold great scientific importance. Common opalised fossils such as shells and belemnites are also nonetheless included as well. The fossils typically come from two localities- Lightning Ridge in NSW, which yields freshwater and terrestrial animal fossils, and Coober Pedy in South Australia which yields marine invertebrates but also the occasional marine reptile bone or tooth.
