Fossils from the Plattenkalke of the Altmühl Valley
The Plattenkalke in the Altmühl valley in Baden-Württemberg (southern Germany) was deposited during the Upper Malm period. The environment was a large lagoonal system, probably very saline. Famous are the finding areas Solnhofen, Eichstätt, Pfalzpaint and others. The rocks are known worldwide, e.g. for the archaeopteryx, but also for important pterosaur fossils, fish, lizards and much more. We have some rarities from these layers that I like to show over time, as well as "ordinary" finds.

Triassic ammonites
We had the chance to get a nice collection of triassic ammonites a year ago.
Normally this is not my cup of tea, prefer the cretaceous vertebrate fossils and the very early things...

Sheppey, Eocene, London clay Turtle (Most likely Puppigerus sp.)
A stunning London clay turtle fossil I found in 2022 exposed on the foreshore clay of the Isle of Sheppey. A largely complete specimen, with many of the limb bones and also the claws from the leading edge of flippers.

Coleraine Formation Fossils
Fossils I’ve collected from the Coleraine formation in northern Minnesota. It’s a sparsely studied formation due to being 150ft underground. Anyways, here I’ll post some of my finds.
