Brasilia bradfordensis (Buckman, 1898)

Ludwigia

In 1887 Buckman coined the name Ludwigia and called all of these Genus types by that name. Later on he began to differentiate and started giving some of them the name Brasilia, like this one here. Now a complete Zone and also a Subzone take their names from it. Found in Geisingen clay pit. 15cm. Bradfordensis Zone (between the Murchisonae Zone below and the Concavum Zone above), Upper Aalenian, Middle Jurassic.

From the album:

The iron content in the Geisingen-Oolith gives these ammos a nice reddish tinge. Sometimes the shell is also preserved, but most of them have a calcitic preservation which also brings out the details.
