Arietites bucklandi
Found near Rottweil south of Stuttgart in the Lower Jurassic Sinemurian.
I'd always wanted to slice thru one of these giants and it was obvious to me when I found this chunk that the inside was more worth preserving than the outside. It was a bit tricky because of its size, but I got it cut and polished. It was definitely quite a large specimen. One can see that not even the complete phragmocon was recovered. The block measures 20x18cm. so the circumference of the complete Ammo could be estimated to be around 1/2 meter.
