Laevaptychus obliquus (Quenstedt)

Ludwigia

6cm. long. This supposed jaw apparatus(actually it's a "door" to the body chamber which is assumed to have evolved from a section of the jaw) is attributed to Aspidoceras sp. From the Kimmeridgium at the quarry in Geisingen.

From the album:

Late Jurassic Ammonites from Southern Germany

Yes. It's very well preserved. I know some guys that have found doubles and one colleague found them in their original position in the body chamber. I haven't been blessed with such luck yet.
