BITE MARKS ON MIOCENE HORSE BONE
This is a calcaneum/astragalus articulation from an Early Miocene three-toed horse, Parahippus sp. Notice the extensive bite marks from (probably) a bear dog, Family Amphicyonidae. These are weight-bearing, very-dense ankle bones from the little horse.
