De-Phosphatized semionotid #3

Fossildude19

Incomplete( So what else is new?) Unidentified semionotid fish. (posssibly Semionotus micropterus)

Early Jurassic. East Berlin Fm. CT.

This is a semionotid that was found 5/12/2011 in a sample that was collected in June of 2000.

I split the shale with a painter's knife, and this was inside! Quite a pleasant surprise. Posted Image

Every once in a while, I get surprised by something I've had around forever, and taken a closer look at.

Thanks for the comment.

Wow beautiful fish Tim! Love the colors.

Sam

Sorry! Just now seeing this, Sam.

Thank You. This is one of my favorite pieces.

What this locality lacks in detail of preservation, it makes up for with the colors and differences in preservation.

Thanks, Lissa.

Nice to see you here. :)

I do every so often.  Still trying to get use to the new format although it is pretty user friendly. :)  Hope you are well and looking forward to another fossil hunt one of these days!
