Turritella cf. ernya communiformis (Voorthuysen 1944)

Individuals up to 5.5cm. long on a block 15x9x5cm. From the famous "Erminger Turritellenplatte" near Ulm. Lower Miocene, "Obere Meeresmolasse"(OMM). All of the Turritella gastropods found here used to be grouped under the species Turritella turris (Basterot 1825) until recently when in 2009 HÖLTKE did a revision of the fauna and identified a number of different species amongst them.
