These are fishhooks carved from bone. Native Americans grooved and snapped off slivers of bone -typically deer limb bones- to make these hooks. The exaggerated length of the shanks is a result of removing the sections at a sharp angle to the long axis of the bone. These two were recovered in Florida waters.

I do appreciate the feedback, Vince. These fishhooks were collected as float - out of context - artifacts. Lithic artifacts from the same area are Late Paleo and Archaic in age.
