A member of the Gigantopygidae (Harrington 1959) family and a member of the Redlichiida order, it is known for it's graceful, long pleural spines and it's fork-shaped pygidium. Yiliangella was a fast moving low-epifaunal detritovore, and ranges from 3 cm to 6 cm. Yiliangella is used to mark the Malong biota. Malungia, a trilobite from a similar age, belongs to two biotas (Chengjiang and Malong), but if it is found with a Wutingaspis, it's from the Chengjiang biota. If it is found with an Yiliangella, it's from the Malong biota. Yiliangella is an incredibly uncommon species of trilobites.
