Lower Big Root

RickCalif

Close to a P. Benedeni...note the wide dental band and big thick root....Ya got me...I'm thinking it's just a Cosmopolitodus lower......Post if ya think I'm off in thinking... and that it is a Benedeni.

Definitely not a false mako. It's too tapered and slender in all axes; false makos may be tapered from the front, but will still be more robust when viewed from the side.

I agree not a false mako. I found one similiar to yours and also thought maybe it was one??? A few months ago while digging at our quarry my husband brought over a tooth he thought was a small megalodon, but I instantly knew it was a benedeni. When you find one there is no mistaking it for a cosmopolitodus lower. It really is a lot more robust like THobern states.
