DUGONG HUMERUS

Harry Pristis

In a personal communication, Dr. Daryl Domning, who has examined this humerus, described it as being from "a robust morph of Metaxytherium floridanum." In other words, the individual dugong was a larger than normal variant within the species. According to Domning, "Sea cows just seem to do odd things sometimes!"
