Yes, under the microscope the apical system is just about perfect. You can see various pores and other structures.

The wicked part about this one was that I actually went to the spot that day with the intention of finding one. I knew the chances were small but it was one of a few things I had been very specifically looking for. A rare event indeed.

This was earlier identified as Pedinopsis. On further examination and with the collection of a second specimen from an equivalent layer I believe this to be an undescribed species of the genus Cottaldia.
