Small arrow heads, about one inch tall, which my brother and I dug in the entrance to a cave at Cane Creek, Perry County Tennessee during the early 1960s. Also in the photo a small carved bone piece and stone bead.

Very nice arrow points and beads and drill. The drill looks small enough to be one used for drilling holes in beads. Arrow head hunting is my first love, have hunted them most of my life while in Texas. Thanks for sharing----Tom

Those were the only arrow heads found at the cave. You're right, the small drill was probably used to make the small beads. The ridges along the tops of the massive limestone hills of Perry County are capped with chert and layers of pure black flint which attacted early people in great numbers. The red of the serrated point on the right was caused by burning the flint whereas it turns from black like the two on the left to red. It was a common practice used by early people to shatter large pieces of flint into pieces perfect for making tools. I learned this from camp fires and exploding flint.
