giant tortoise
This is the nuchal, a bone of the carapace of a giant tortoise. The nuchal is located at the front margin of the carapace, above the animal's head and neck. This individual is of moderate size . . . they grew much, much larger. Pleistocene of Suwannee County, Florida.
