Description: By far my favourite fossil that i collected from the coast between Lyme Regis and Charmouth. It is a pair of fused Ichthyosaurus vertebrae found on the Charmouth side of the coast, straight off the pebbles along the foreshore. It is uncommon to find these bones still joined like this and the preservation is great with minimal wear. Visible rib attachments are present. This was also my first vertebrate fossil find (after collecting only plants and shells in Sydney for 6 years). Collected on my fourth day hunting the Jurassic Coast (26/11/13).
Geological Formation: Charmouth Mudstone Formation
Age: 190-195 million years old
Location: Coastline between Charmouth and Lyme Regis, UK
