Dinosaur Jaw Fragment (view two)

Paleoworld-101

Description: This was the first fragment of bone i found on my trip to collect fossils from Brook and Brighstone Bay, and was the first dinosaur fossil i ever found. It appears to be a fragment of lower left jawbone and is the only piece i collected from the site that has some diagnostic features (most are just rolled, pebble-looking, rounded fragments). This photo shows the top of the specimen with potential grooves/evidence of tooth sockets.

Geological Formation: Wessex Formation

Age: About 125 million years old

Location: Between Brook and Brighstone Bay, Isle of Wight, UK
