2.93 inch Great White tooth of unknown origin

Megatooth Collector

This is a 2.93" Great White Shark (Carcharodon carcharias) tooth with an unknown site of discovery. It does look and feel similar to some of my Chilean great white teeth, but no way of knowing based on appearance alone. Feel free to share your thoughts...

What makes this tooth even more interesting is the person selling it bought it as part of a large government-style auction and was selling it on ebay as a "2 3/4 inch Megalodon tooth". When I inquired more about the tooth's history, how he actually measured it, origin, etc., he said he had no information other than he bought a large lot of things and was now trying to sell them. He said he typically did not sell sharks teeth. There were hardly any bidders on this one too because he was advertising it as a small Megalodon tooth with relatively poor photos. It wasn't unless you took the time to look at the photos and enlarge them that you could identify it as a very large GW, not small Megalodon. I imagine quite a few potential bidders never even paid attention to this one. Final price was about $60... yes, I meant to type sixty dollars there, that's not a typo.
