Protopaleaster sp. ? (Spencer & Groom 1934)

2,5cm. Probably from the Ordovician Verulam Formation (it was a loose stone near a pit dug into the Bobcaygeon) at James Dick Quarry in Gamebridge.

Cool starfish. However, I don't think it is a Stenaster salteri to me. Not sure what it is though. I used to do two annul trips up to Brechin before the quarries in the area were closed to collecting and have seen some number of starfish. That is the first starfish I've seen come out of the Dick Quarry...not that I see all of the specimens ...ha ha. It is cool that they are down into the Bobcaygeon formatioin at the Dick Quarry.

Of course I'm not sure myself as well since I've only collected there three times in my life, but it was the nearest choice for me after the bit of research I did. The fact that it's not particularly well-preserved makes it also difficult. I think I'll post it in the id section in a minute and put a question mark on it for the time being.
