This is definitely not a Cenoceras. I've been working at getting it identified for a while and shall post when I know more.

Update 1: It's now narrowed down to probably a Digonioceras. A remote possibility is also Ophionautilus.

Update 2: Now it's even more narrowed down to certainly Digonioceras and possibly D.tintanti.

Update 3: I've just written a short article about it for the German hobby collectors' magazine "Fossilien" and am hoping to get some feedback about similar finds in southern Germany early next year when it gets published. Up to now I haven't heard much except for a small one which they discovered in a drawer in the museum in Stuttgart which was found in a similar layer in 1892! Thanks to my inquiry they've now got it identified.
