View of the designated collecting area at Westmoreland State Park, VA

It only took a few seconds to pick up my first find. The beach was filled with people looking for shark teeth, and overlooking some other cool things.

I_gotta_rock,

Where were you at Westmoreland? We were all around there yesterday (Sunday.)

Yep, but this was a couple months ago. Yesterday we were actually at Big Brook in NJ.

Cool. Any good finds at Big Brook?

My find of the weekend (and month of July) was the Alopias grandis tooth I found near WMSP. It's posted on here.

I found a hand-sized oyster, Exogyra cancellata, in living state, and a couple of tiny brachiopods also in living state. Always happy to add a matched set to my collection. They are already on display at my local library, for which we were preparing when we made a spontaneous fossil run yesterday. No pictures for a month!

I don't see you picture. where is it?

Cool finds and really cool about being displayed in the local library. You should write a post and include photos of your finds on display there.

I have large pectens on "display" at the local butcher/seafood seller here. Its cool to here other customers asking about the "huge" scallops on top of the seafood case when I'm there picking up dinner. :-) Then the owner tells them about the State Fossil of VA.

Here is the link to my post.
