This is the lower, left canine from a giant pig-like mammal from the Early Miocene of Florida. This is Daeodon sp., of the Family ENTELODONTIDAE, an extremely rare fossil east of the Mississippi River. The smaller, Oligocene ancestor from the Mid-west, Dinohyas sp., is better known.
