I wish you could tell me what this is, I've got a couple specimens much like it from my local Cretaceous spot.

I'm afraid that's not gonna help you much. I'm not sure, but it could be related to rock maple (Acer pseudomonspessulanum Unger). The leaves from Willershausen are from the Pliocene - they won't have much to do with those from the Cretaceous.

I know it's not likely to be the same species given that age difference, I believe some genera from the Late Cret. were long-lived, no? Thing is I don't even have a clue as to wider group it belongs to. Something like a possible genus or family would be nice to help me narrow it down, like the one you suggest which I'll look into. Yours and mine look so similar, with that 3-lobed shape and the angled stem.
