I remember seeing these teeth on sale from the same seller, It's quite amazing how such bargain and rare pieces (I think that lio tooth was 50 pounds) landed in a forum member all those years.

Lol really? Wow! You actually remember these for sale??? I'd have to guess off the top of my head, as long as 3 or 4 years ago! I am impressed!!!

Lucky you got them back when pliosur teeth were actually found, nowadays they are only found in private collections that people gave up on

And jeez, did you inherit the rest of your collection from a paleontologist or something? I'm very much amazed how much rarities you have, especially for a minor. It's taken me five years to get only a number of small rarities, and here you are, just plopping down with a whole crocodile mandible, mosasaur snout, the exact pliosaur teeth I failed to get so many years ago, and god-knows what else you've got

Lol no, I get some from that popular auction site, and a lot from actual sites, which I think is pretty standard for a lot of people. I guess Ive just been lucky:) I don't know what "minor" refers to, but I think it just means how long Ive been a member on here. Ive been collecting it  for maybe 3-4 years, but realistically for maybe  just a couple, if u take into consideration the time spent actually collecting. I my bigger hobbies are fish/saltwater fish/reef keeping, and plants, and I'm not good at sharing interest time, so other than recently, and for a period a few years ago, I completely "lose interest" in fossils for long periods. On the other hand, during my "on-time", all my time, energy, and money/lack of money, goes to fossils. I really don't know though, it may completely come down to just simple luck, coming across really cool stuff. Especially with the really unusual stuff:/ and never forget to keep doing searches for stuff, even if you've never seen it get a result before!

Really? I didn't know there was a shortage. As far as I remember, it's always been insanely hard to find pliosaur teeth, and good fossils. I got these as a lucky unusual find too. Oh man, I HAAAAAAAAAAAAAATE this; slicing bones and selling smoothed slices! And it's largely done with marine reptile fossils(but NOT dime-a-dozen mosasaurs), and sadly I see a LOT that are sold as pliosaur slices. A lot of pliosaur cabachons(?) too! Of course they could easily not be, but I don't know, I figure maybe in some "artistic" places they find a good amount of pliosaur "chunkasaur" fossils, and then "creative" jerks want to make something "prettyprettypretty, like a sparkly flower", and destroy them. People are DEFINITELY that wreckless and shortsighted. It pisses me off so much:( and I see whole fossils sliced up and sold together. I guess they have shiny pyrite inside, and they are usually about as ugly as possibly, so it's more understandable. And at least they sell it all together. But the rest.....GRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

Lol really? You were gonna get there??? Lol small world! Didn't he have more? I got a lot from that person, probably a dozen things, including my leedsichthys fossil. I thought I had to cut it short due to money, and that he had plenty more cool stuff, but it's been so long I really can't say with any conviction, anymore. I don't remember who it was, but I wish they were still in business, cause their stuff was really above and beyond most others' stuff! I love the little boxes too:)

lol and yeah, I do have some more awesome stuff, I just haven't pulled the ones I have already, out for their photo shoot yet, and my absolute favorite I won't have until I finish paying my friend another....well, hundreds of dollars more, that it cost them to buy and hold for me. Awesome friend! And i have a couple other awesome things on their way now, too:) so excited:D

If you didn't inherit that bunch, then that makes sense. How much did you buy on fossils?

I should have said "youth", but I meant minor by anyone under 18 years old, like me.

How much money do you have on average to spend all on fossils? I only have a budget of $100 given twice a year unless I ask really nicely

Our auction site always has those "once-in-a-lifetime" listings one in-awhile, and luckily they never stop cycling. The only problem is that all most of the time I never get to buy one of them because of my budget.

At least it still is something, although I would prefer complete raw pieces. If you read Michael Crichton's Jurassic Park novel, there is a part where Sattler mentions that all the chunkasaurs they find are completely liquidated for protein analysis. In terms of preservation, at least the former is better.
