Harry Pristis

This is a nuchal bone from a Pleistocene fresh-water turtle, Pseudemys nelson.

The nuchal is the element of the turtle carapace directly above the head and neck. This bone is durable and diagnostic to taxon -- it is a commonly-found fossil, especially in fluviatile deposits.
