The identification of this tooth as being Metriorhynchus is untenable because Metriorhynchus superciliosus from Callovian-age Marnes de Dives Formation and Oxford Clay Formation of England and France has been renamed Thalattosuchus (Young et al. 2020), but also because a number of putative Metriorhynchus species from the Oxford Clay Formation have been placed in the separate genera Gracilineustes and Suchodus (Young et al. 2010).
