Unidentified fish tooth - possibly sarcopterygian.

Catskill Formation Metzgers' Quarry, Canton PA. Upper Devonian.

 

This is actually an imprint of a tooth, with a bit of the enamel/bone material (white,pink,blue) left behind in the imprint.

Tooth itself was destroyed in the splitting process, as it was not visible at first. 

Oh well.  :shrug:

Whites, pinks, and blues are frequently found in these fossils.

Aye, very cool mineralization! By contrast, our Devo fishies up here are fairly bland. You and Jim have a fantastic spot there!

At first I thought the purples were hemoglobin from the bone marrow, before I learned that these were mineralized.
