Order Neogastropoda
Family Turbinellidae

Hystrivasum horridum (Heilprin, 1886)
Stratigraphy: Golden Gate Member of the Tamiami Formation(?).

Location:  Bonita Grande, Lee County, Florida USA.

Status: Extinct

Notes: A classic Caloosahatcheean species, it could have originated in the warm coral reef facies of the Tamiami or might be from a more southernly exposure of the Caloosahatchee than previously known  Very constricted at the base and more spinose than other species of Hystrivasum.
