I found this and all of my other Messel stuff (most of it not yet in the Gallery - several crocodiles, turtles, birds, bats, frogs and of course fish, fish and even more fish are still missing) between 1968 and 1975 (from that time on, the pit was "off limits" for private collectors).

This is a magnificent find! Did you have to use the resin technique I have been hearing about back then or was the substrate intact enough in the part you found this and other specimens?
