Hello all. We were recently on 4-H trip to Greenwood County Kansas and stopped at a roadcut in the Kanwaka Shale. We have several questions, the first one is below. We found this crinoid stem with an encrusting Bryazoa on it. I believe this is Fistulipora but would like a more positive ID. Any help is appreciated

Hi! I joined to help my neice with her 4H Geology project. I was in geology for many years previously but ended that 15 years ago. Now it is her time. We are from around Wichita and have done some Cretaceous hunting in Western Kansas and Pennsylvania in South Central Kansas. We really want to find some plant remains somewhere from the carboniferous! Here we are in Western Kansas earlier this year and some of our finds.

If any one would be so kind as to help us ID these specimens for my son's geology project that would be great. I hope that it is ok to post more than one at a time. I was outside but the light wasn't great for my macro setting so I had to use my flash. All were found in South Eastern Kansas. And I didn't realize until just now that I forgot to add in a way to tell size so if I need to retake them I can do it in the morning. Thank you so much for all your help.

We have been collecting for our first year 4H exhibit. These were all collected in Kansas in the Smoky Hill Chalk and also in Southeast Kansas around Greenwood, Elk, and Chataqua counties. We are looking for some concensus on our identification. We have had a hard time this year due to Covid. When we used to do this 15 years ago we would go to big meetings where we would get help identifying things. This year it was all identified on site and the leaders were very busy helping many people as best they could. As you can see we have already caught quite a few errors ourselves so we are pretty reluctant on the others. I couldn't get my camera to focus on the label and specimen at the same time so sorry for the fuzzy labels. I am helping my neice with her project. She is 7 and just learning about geology but has been picking up rocks and bringing them home for years. Seems like shark teeth are her favorite like alot of others here on the forum. We really want to get east in Kansas and find some carboniferous stuff.
