Is this Mosasaur Tooth real?
Po911 posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
I got this Mosasaur tooth a little while ago about 2 years ago. It’s a little light but decent. There is a little chip on it and it’s full on white. So I was just wondering if this is even real or just a cast.- 10 replies

Along with the Daspletosaurus and Alberta fossils I have been looking at in trying to get. I’ve have also been looking at some European Dinosaur fossils to get. I have found this and am wondering if it’s a IGUANODON vertebra?, or another animal? It’s from the Isle of Wight, England. Thank you!!

Hey everyone, I was digging in the Lance Formation of Wy and I came upon this odd fossil. It doesn’t look like rock to me and a few others have agreed with me. I have been researching what it might possibly be, when I came across this Forum article, My fossil looks identical to part of the cranium element above and I was wondering what you guys think it might be. Could it be a partial Cranium Element? There is a few pieces of sand a matrix covering a tiny section that makes the fossil look whitish, but it’s all brownish in coloration. Any info is appreciated. Thanks!

Hey everyone, I was digging in the White River Formation when I found this amazing maxilla of some creature. Through some questioning and conversations with various paleontologists, many people have different opinions of what this is. The responses I’ve had are all different, being Oreodont, Dire Wolf, or a species from the family of Brontotheriidae. The w shaped teeth might suggest Brontotheriidae... What are your guy’s opinions? The maxilla is about 6 inches long.

I found this today looking for driftwood along the Chesapeake Bay near Baltimore. It is very lightweight, it is definitely fossilized, and the chambers are thin walled and shallow depth-between 1/8 and 1/4 in wide and seem to be generally hexagonal. Initially I thought wasps nest but the size of the chambers isn't uniform, however I do think perhaps it could be a strange colonial Coral but it isn't calcified. I've never found anything like this in Maryland before and I'm having trouble finding others like it online. Any incite is appreciated, thank you.

SO I went fossil hunting the other day just for plants in Stillwater. I manage to to find two fossils one I'm pretty sure is a plant and the other I have no idea. I thought it was a shed insect exoskeleton but I'm not sure. Can anyone help me with what these are?

I've had this for several years but just got around to prepping it. I believe I've seen similar on the site in the past few years but don't remember what it is.

Hey everyone, I have a few questions... What are the best sites or formations to dig for dinosaur fossils? Which of them are free to the public (open to anyone to dig)? And how do you get a license or permit (if needed) to dig? It would be really awesome for some replies for this topic. Thanks!

Hey everyone, I am thinking of buying this 1.38 inch Nanotyrannus tooth for $315, but am not sure if it is worth it? Can you please tell me if I should buy it or not. Thanks!

I'm not sure if this should go in the native American section or not, so mods feel free to move it. I've seen mention that native Americans using fossil shark teeth as arrow heads and pendants and I've seen that they look actually like the tooth in question like where they put the string. That would be super cool if that's what this is. Thanks

I found two chunks of limestone from Madison group possibly lodgpole or Mission Canyon member. Take from upper belt Creek in Montana. At first I thought this was a coral. Is this a Bryozoan?

So I was browsing through the Archaeopteryx lithographica records on FossilWorks; and in one of the three records (from Workerszell, Eichstätt), I notice the mention of an 'unclassified' reptile taxon "Rhacehosaurus gracilis". The only further information that was provided was the age range (150.8 to 145.5 Ma) and the geographical distribution. I looked elsewhere online (google scholar, ResearchGate...) for any other mention of the genus "Rhacehosaurus", and nothing else turns up. Do you people know about this enigmatic taxon? Is it some kind of invalid synonym or something? I'd love to know more about this..
