  1. Hi All! I'm currently saving up to pursue my PhD in Archaeology (focus on pre-colonial N. America, Pre-Bronze Age Aegean, and Human Evolution) and am an avid rock and fossil collector! Living in NYC, I mostly hunt with my partner in NJ, but am originally from the California coast and often make trips back to the golden coast. Very interested in both collectible and "observation only" in-situ finds. Long-time lurker of the forum, but finally decided to join in on the discussions! Thanks everyone!
  2. I just stumbled across this hillariously bizarre story https://allthatsinteresting.com/ichthyosaurus-fossil?utm_source=quora&utm_medium=referral about a guy who dug up a fossil that had been buried by his creationist ancestors, which made me wonder, was this story about archaeology or palentology? But more generally, when does archeology become paleontology? How far back do you have to go? Is it tools? Fire? Bipedalism?
