Found this one recently. As usual Dinosaur park fm. Thought it might be some sort of jaw section at first but now I’m just confused. It’s got a weird half-circle cutout going through what I presume is the bottom of it.

Hi, first time fossil hunter here - so apologies in advance! Currently visiting the Isle of Wight Jurassic Coast and spent the day at the beach and have a couple of interesting finds - just not sure if what I found is actually anything more than just a pretty rock! So, this first one is about 11cm in length and had a sort of white slightly porous texture, with yellow brown markings. One marking has the texture of tiny bumps, whilst the other looks like smoother ridges. Can anyone please help?

This was found on a Florida beach after a storm near Sebastian Florida. Pretty large bone in my estimation, but you can see the dimensions in the photos. About four inches long. I think it might be an astragalus, but I haven't able to match it with a particular animal. The grooves on the inside of the two lobes seem to be deep. (Just below inch three and four on each side of the center channel.) I didn't see anything like that on the various photos for the animals I found. Must be fairly large though. What do you think? My friend actually found this specimen off of the Big Sioux River at our normal spot out in Iowa. He put it in the center console of my car and I didn't realize how old it appeared to be until it broke in half. Any ideas as to what this may have come from?

Found this worn down piece in a new jersey cretaceous creek, while I think its a random worn bone piece it does have some very odd parts to it that are interesting, hoping to get some feedback on this one. Will post more pictures soon

This little bone is around 2 cm long and I’d like to know if this specimen shows any indication towards a species. It was found in a set of micro matrix from the Wellington formation, Oklahoma

I was looking through some rocks I have when I came across this. The texture puzzles me and so I thought it could be bone I don’t know exactly where I found it just that it’s in Colorado. I don’t expect to get an ID just I want to know if it’s fossil or not. It appears to have a rounded top like an end to a bone and where it would have connected has bone like texture also on the outside there is a concave dent with the same texture.

Found in the Judith river formation of north central Montana. Measured in inches. All three items found within a few feet of each other, along with many other chunked up bones and a few other broken teeth and “claws?” I only thought raptor because of the very hollow bone combined with the tooth and claw. But I obviously I really have no clue. Thoughts?

I've never found a fossil before, but always keep an eye out. My dog just dropped this on my foot and I was about to throw it for her before something caught my eye.. there's small crystal looking circles on one end. I've tried the burn test - no smell I've tried the lick test - a lil sticky Could this be a fossil or just a bone from my dog?

Hello, I was fossil hunting today at along the beach cliffs at Hunstanton, West Norfolk, England. Found lot of belemnites and wheels in the cliff rocks, but also found this which to me and my boyfriend looked like a bone of some sorts in the rock? We have only just started getting into fossils so any guidance as to identify this would be appreciated, even if it turns out just to be a cool shaped rock. thanks

I thought this type of honeycomb structure was usually indicative of skull bone but this piece looks like it may be some sort of joint?

I found this hopefully fossil laying on the ground and picked it up because it was symmetric and realized rocks aren’t normally symmetric so thought it could be bone and that’s when I came here Front view back view right view left view bottom view top view

Pressing my luck but is anyone able to tell me anything about this big brook bone fragment. Perhaps just whether mammal or reptile or other. And I know my photos don’t make this any easier but an iPhone 5 is all I have. As always, thank you for sharing your knowledge

New here, recently started collecting here in the Tampa and surrounding areas. Would appreciate any help in IDing a recent find. Found in a road construction site along with numerous echinoids. It was broken in two by a steamroller. Its 1.5" wide and 4.5" long. Appreciate any insight. Thanks!

This fossil was from Yunnan, China. Of Triassic formation, same layer as Keichousaurus. It’s 55cm in length. Any idea what it is?

Hi all, Found this stone at Pointe aux Oies in Wimereux two days ago, amongst the pebbles collected next to a shelve down towards sea from the spot where I had found an ichthyosaur vertebra (on matrix) two days before this find. I picked it up because 1) the stone is unusually flat; 2) has exactly the right shape and thickness to it for an ophthalmosaurid ichthyosaur paddle bone (see picture below); 3) has certain ornamentation top and bottom; 4) seems to be of a different type of stone than I've generally come across in the area; and 5) has some weight to it. It vaguely reminds me of paddle bones found in the Oxford Clay at Peterborough. Yet, what makes me doubt, though, is that there is no clear radial ornamentation on either top or bottom of the piece, as would by typical for an ichthyosaur paddle bone. A friend of mine, more familiar with fossils from the region, suggested it could be a crocodile scute, as the ones found further up the coast, but this, to me, seems unlikely, as 1) the ornamentation on my find differs significantly from what's typical for crocodilians; 2) the underside is not flat as it would be for crocodile; and 3) the piece seem to thick for a scute. Size is about 4.4 x 3.4 x 1.4 cm (1.7 x 1.3 x 0.6 ") Brachypterygius extremus paddle from Ichthyosaurs: a day in the life... My piece reminds me of the radius. Now my question is: Is this just a rock - i.e. am I seeing things because I really want to - or is it an actual fossil? Is this an ichthyosaur paddle bone/phalange or something else?

Hi. Found this digging in Green Mill Run, nc. I am sure it is bone, but it might not be a vertebrae. (Husband really wants to find a whale vert, so maybe this is a partial?) Also it has definitely turned into a rock, it is no longer light and airy like a more modern bone thanks so much!!

Hello all, on a trip to Ramanessin brook as I write this. Came across something that looks suspiciously like a bone fragment. Mostly just looking for a confirmation if it is ir isnt, but if anyone wants to take a crack at ID that would be appreciated as well! I hate to be someone who posts up a concretion asking if it is a fossil, and I can normally tell the difference, but it looks a bit too bony! Haha! Thanks! -Snag

I know there isn’t much to this bone - kind of like trying to identify a car once it got blown up then dumped in acid then left to rust, then crumbled. It’s the milk river of northern Montana in the Judith formation. After rinsing it off a bit, I just thought it was unique because of the two separate concave surfaces on the same bone - opposite sides. I picked it up because I liked the color of the preserved bony area, but the concavities must be somewhat unique?? The surfaces don’t show up super well in the images, but both smooth surfaces are definitely concave. Ideas?

Hello, Any thoughts on this? Sold as a pterosaur finger bone--repaired in two places. From Kem Kem basin. Seller describes it as being dense but lightweight. 10.3 cm long

Hi I took only my second trip out fossil hunting over the weekend and found what to me are some great finds. Any help with ID would be greatly appreciated, i believe the vertebrae to be a pretty good example of an ichthyosaur vertebrae but other than that i am pretty clueless. These were all found at Aust Cliffs near Bristol in the UK.
