Hi! I found what looks like a fossil of a bone. It looks to me to actually be the ball that would go in the socket. If it is a bone, would there be any way of identifying what animal it came from? I live in Northwest Indiana. Thank you.

Thaught I would share the location where I have found large sections of well preserved Zoophycos and burrows. Interestingly the Zoophycos is in its own layer while the layer just beneath that has worm burrows. Also fond a random bone peaking out from the wall. Any ideas what the bone might be from. Left the bone there, it's very brittle.

Found on the Brazos River just southwest of Houston. When I first picked this up, judging by the extreme river damage it had suffered being tossed around in the water for so many years, I simply assumed it was just another unidentifiable piece of Pleistocene bone to get thrown in the box with the others back at home. But since I've been going through the galleries of some of the members here to help identify the other bones I collected, this one seems to bear a resemblance to a mammoth metacarpal. Maybe the smallest one, although the damage on several spots is significant - the outer bony surface on one side has been completely removed. Am I just crazy, or is this thing the real deal? Any help on an ID is appreciated!

Hello Fossil Forum! my name is Rachel and I love exploring outdoors, finding cool places, neat rocks and fossils and having adventures! A recent rock discovery is puzzling me and after reading a couple hundred pages in the fossil ID forum and witnessing an amazing amount of knowledge I decided to make a list of my own. While exploring my town’s namesake, Dawson Creek, I found this rock on the creek bank. We are in a predominately shale with some siltstone area in the Montney formation (Triassic, if I’m not wrong), And also very close to the Gething formation (again, if I’m not mistaken, lower Cretaceous). curious if anyone can give me more information on this rock! Thanks a bunch! Rachel

Ahoi! this piece of bone supposedly comes from Kem Kem. Someone said something about Pterosaurs, but they often do. The shape lets me think of a neural spine, the structure appears a bit fishy? What do you think? Aloha, J

Live in London and found this in the Thames recently. I'm guessing it's a humerus of some kind of animal but I can't fit it against pictures I can find on the Internet. Any ideas. Also no idea how old it is.

Hey there, Thanks for any help you can offer! This was found on the southern banks of Island View Beach on the east side of Southern Vancouver Island. It's shape, apparent slight porosity, and coloration peaked my curiosity but I'm not certain that it's anything of interest. Thanks for your input!

Hello all last trip to big brook was great. Found a lot of small shark teeth and more. On my way out in a hurray I picked this up, forgot about it and stumbled on it today. 3 inches long and the texture sure looks like bone. But I am a newbie and was hoping for confirmation. I assume it’s way too small to guess from what (but if you can guess please do). Major question is whether this is a fossil or modern. Any clues from the photos? Have never done a burn test but am ready to try. Sorry to say but it feels light not heavy tjank you

The is the first time I am posting here. I went on a fossil hunt to the Whiskey Bridge on the Brazos River near Caldwell, Texas. The fossils in this area are from the Crockett formation during the Eocene time period. I found many snails and marine fossils but also came across this. It LOOKS like bone. Any thoughts?

Hello. I got this fossil from a friend. I don't know where he got it or where it came from. About 5.08 centimeters and weighs 10 grams. It is the size of a rodent or baby. Is this a skull? If not, what type of bone is it? Thanks.

Hello, I found this some time ago at Fossil Beach in Virginia. Can anyone help me identify what bone this is and what animal it may belong to? Thank you! 3 Monkeys Mama

Another milk river Montana Judith river formation bone. Found with the rest of the bone, but it was all chunked and eroded out. This is the size of a large hand. Thought it looks like the end of a long bone - maybe hadrosaur because they seem to be the bigger Dino’s in that area - but it didn’t seem to fit in my search. thoughts?

Is this cow, horse, or other? Metacarpal? Thanks for looking and helping. If I am in the wrong place on the forum, I apologize.

I found this in Polk county, Florida a couple months ago and while looking through bones recently I found a couple things I hadn’t noticed and one of them was this small bone fragment that I think has a bite mark in it. It is almost exactly 3/4 inches.

Something that looks like a fossilized bone. Got it out of a rock I split open, the rock in the pic with the green arrows pointing to where I extracted the thing in question. Any ideas?
