Well Hello everyone.. As promised here are some of the pictures of our finds with a group of about 25 at the Ladonia Fossil Park on the North Sulphur River. We had a great time searching thru the pebbles and edges of the cliffs. a couple of bone fragments were found but nothing major. We found several gastropods in some matrix and did some sifting at the gravel bars. We did find a broken arrow head but no shark teeth in the area. Here are some pictures of our finds. Enjoy as I do have some questions i'll ask on the ID Forum.

Ok here are some interresting finds, I suspect they are fossils, suspiciously looking like bones, some occasions there's indication of merrel. Location: edge of Moni formation, 3km from sea, 3-5million years old. Under the very end of a series of limestone slabs, in a layer of mud. All in a 2 square meter radious, attaching also some I could not remove from there. diameters vary from 5mm to 35mm and the longest is 20cm. Near by I found also oyster parts and other bivalves and a couple of plant shaped white material embeded in stone. here we go: 1) all together 2-4) sample 1 5-9) sample 2 see next post for the rest

Hello everyone!! After some researching of bones and fossils found in the Sulphur River Texas area I couldn’t find a good example of What cha doing my love this might be. Please help if you can.. thanks. I have some bone fragments as well to ask about but I wanted to get this one classified. Hope I can get a positive ID.....

Hello everyone! I need some help identifying these bones. I've narrowed them down to being antiquus or possibly bison bison. Even had a specialist describe them to possibly be Camelops...These were located in Southwestern Oklahoma.

Recently I purchased a collection of shark teeth from Big Brook, NJ. This specimen came with it. I think it is a reptile humerus, however, it doesn't look like turtle/crocodile bones. I have no idea who it may come from - mammal/lizard/dinosaur? Sorry for the image quality.

I found these bone pieces, at least I think they’re bone, in the shallow water of the North Sulphur River of Ladonia, Texas. Any ideas of what type of mammal they belonged to? Thanks in advance!!!

New here to the forum and to fossil hunting. Found a few teeth over the past few weeks was hoping to get some help with identification and where to find more in the low country. Living in mount pleasant with access to a 23 foot bay boat as well as a few paddle boards. Would love to meet some great people with the same interests as myself and my wife. We would love to host some new friends on our boat for some hunting. If you are in the area and wouldn't mind the company of some newbs that are eager to learn and hunt send me a PM. We are looking forward to becoming knowledgeable on the area and meeting others that share our interests. Took an extra day off for the Labor day weekend to relax in the country side away from the Dallas Tx area. Quite peaceful in my travel trailer under the huge Spanish Oaks. Too much tequila that night before the dig did not help the situation, found it difficult to roll out of bed the next morning. My bud promised me a visit to his print site with Professor Anderson. Gas a little hard to come by but he managed to find a station with a rationed supply. Finnally he came out and I got to handle some facinating finds he had recently made and he too got to see some of my stuff. I do think we managed facinate each other with the specimens we drug out. He had an amazing Sloth claw from the Sulphur area and I had my pseudounicornious and a pterosaur skull. He seemed to be more interested in the decacarcinus crab (Unidentified) I brought with me. But what we did at camp is not what I wanted to post about. (I am not allowed to post pictures of the site only my my finds) While Prof Anderson and Steve (my bud) worked out another huge print I was working on a thin deposit of clay "bone infested" material. Most of the bone material is scattered partials of turtle (First time I have found fossil turtle in the Glen Rose material) but there it was. The prints are quite abundant there and easy to "pick up" natural casts everywhere! That was not what I was there to investigate. The bone material was abundant and easy to extract once the 6" limestone cap was removed. Steve lifted some cap stone and said get after it. Two hours was all the time we had but it was enough to convince me to go back soon. After scratching at the exposure I found plenty of turtle material but all was crushed. Makes sence concidering all the dino activity in the immediate area would crush any underlying material. I gathered some of the fragments and tried to piece them together with limited success. I then found the one thing I had hoped for. A dino bone! Although small it was a first in that site. A "bird like" dino tail bone! I have hopes someone will be able to narrow down a few details on it. If there are any ideas I am open to suggestions as to id. BTW: I also found a very good print which I promptly placed in the truck to grace my collection. Area circled is a smaller print super-imposed on top of juvenile print. What you can see is bottom of natural cast. Take a look and let me know what you think. Reached Limit.

Very nice variety The cut dinosaurus bones fragments. Size is betwen; smallest one 3 cm and bigest is about 6 cm.

I was in Arkansas when I found this unusual rock/fossil. I thought this was a geode of some sort until I saw what appears to be bones in the center. It is exactly how I found it; I did not break it open...it was this nearly perfect, half-shell shape when I picked it up. I have a microscope that attaches to my iPhone so I have attempted to give you a good view of what I am calling "bones". If any of you have suggestions as to what it might be, please let me know. Thank you!

Hi. I have some more bones you can probably help me with. They are from Kem Kem in Morocoo near the border to Algeria. According to the seller they have been found in the same spot (within a few m^2). I am pretty sure the two on the left are metatarsals. Please let me know what you think.

Hey everyone. So I am new to fossil hunting. Like completely new. I am taking a geology class and one of my assignments includes going fossil hunting! So fun. I have gone out twice and feel like I'm having no luck. However at the last minute I came across this. I am really not sure if it's just rock or something more. Since I am completely new at this hoping someone can help me. Thanks in advance for any insight.

Hello, found these today after spending a few hours at a river in northern Puerto Rico, middle to upper Oligocene Limestone, looking for fossilized shells and cobalt blue glass... found lots of both! Also found these teeth and bones, they were all found relatively close together My guess is modern horse teeth. I have no clue on the bones. Could there be a way to tell how old they are? Pretty sure the teeth can't be too old, since the first cattle and horses were introduced into Puerto Rico from Spain in 1509. Thank you!

Hi everyone, I hope someone can help me. I am doing a school project ( fossil report) and struggling to find what i am looking for. I have never looked for fossils before and believe i may have missed what i was looking for today. I went out for a nice hike at horseshoe canyon in alberta. it was amazing, however i could not find any fossils. ( at least i think i didnt after looking at some pictures of this forum i may have and just missed them) I am a complete amateur. i did find a map on here for horseshoe canyon but still did not have much luck. i was hoping some one can help point me in the right direction. is there an area in the canyon that is best to look at? but most importantly what am i looking for? How do i know what is a fossil and what is well just rock. I feel silly asking but i am so intrigued and planning on making another trip out on friday. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hi! I found some pieces of mesozoic bones. I know that it is just pieces, but may be it is possible to ID some of it. I found it near Ili river in Kazakhstan. It belongs to cretaceous period for sure. Tyrannosauridae, Ankylosauridae, Titanosauridae, Triceratops Marsh and some other types were found here earlier. I use sm. scale. One more

A couple of days ago I bought a couple of dozen pieces of random Kem Kem material (I suppose you'd call it the junk that couldn't be sold individually). I know that Kem Kem is a bit mysterious, and that it can be difficult or impossible to identify random bits of bone even to the type of bone, let alone the specific animal. But what that said, that's exactly what I'm hoping someone can do I could identify quite a lot of the pieces, such as sawfish teeth, a piece of shark fin spine, and some fish verts. But most of it is just a mystery. Can anyone help with these bits? This first bone is hollow. Does this mean anything, in this context? The second has a characteristic shape, and I was wondering if that meant it could be narrowed down to the type of bone? The third is just a very robust bone. I don't know if anything can be gleamed from it. Finally, this looks like some sort of scale. Fish? Thanks very much in advance.
