This is a Homotherium canine tooth fossil from Heilongjiang Province of China,It is less than 40000 years ago and belongs to the late Pleistocene.The teeth are 11.85 cm long and 3.03 cm wide.Considering its corresponding species and origin, this is a very rare fossil sample.There are fine serrations on both sides of the crown, which looks like a steak knife.It is a powerful weapon for predators.

Hey there! I was visiting the Peace River this year for my bday with my husband, and we came across some awesome fossil hunters. We’d never hunted the Peace, and were totally unprepared. Fortunately, the group we stumbled upon were super nice. They had sifters to spare and beers to share. They not only made my birthday, but also gave me this tooth. I can tell it’s a canine, but not sure what it’s from. Any thoughts? Tooth is just shy of 3/4”. Thanks very much!! Lauren

Hi, this tooth was found in my front yard in Wethersfield, CT while I was exploring whether there were any datable artifacts in a test pit just outside my house (supposedly oldest house in CT). I only found a few historical artifacts (wrought nail) and was mostly chasing charcoal (Native people were burning the area) and wanted to see if I could get to the clear glacial till when this tooth popped out of nowhere. This is definitely not my area of experience. Thanks for any help Paul

Hi everyone, I found this tooth over the summer in the White River formation of Wyoming. When I stumbled upon it, the tooth was already "exploded" into several pieces, so I glued it in place and dug around it, taking it out as a cemented chunk of dirt. At first I thought it was a young Archaeotherium canine, then I wasn't so sure and thought maybe Hyaenodon, I could be wrong and may not be predator at all as I know the rhinos, oreodonts and titanotheres all have canine teeth. A good amount of the crown is preserved along with several pieces of the root, however it is not complete and may be missing some vital pieces which could help us answer the question. the crown is around an inch and a half in length.

Any ideas on what type of tooth this is? Found it in Hogtown creek in Gainesville, FL. Looks like some type of canine tooth.

This mystery tooth was in a box of fossils that I bought. I have no location or any other information on the tooth and I have no idea what it is. It appears to be some sort of canine tooth to me. Is very similar in color to teeth that I have from Cave Bears from Romania. Looks too small to be your bear tooth to me. Any ideas?

I know that this is a tooth... But from what? I have absolutely no information on this tooth. Once again, I hope someone can ID this, but I am not holding my breath. -Bill
