Was digging to make space for a concrete pad and found this in a lump of clay.. I know it looks like a shark tooth, was thinking it might be a baby meg.. I’ll be looking for more, I think this is so cool. Located in Charleston(West Ashley) 29414

Hi all, I found a couple tooth today on morning hunt in Charleston, SC. I am fairly certain the first tooth (in the first two pictures) is A. grandis. However, I am unsure if the second tooth (in the last two pictures) is A. grandis, alopias sp., or isurus. I had this discussion with @MarcoSr in another thread but they resemble each other so much I still can’t tell with my eye. happy to post additional pictures if needed and thanks in advance!!

Hey all, I had a fun haul today in Charleston, SC (full haul in the first couple pictures). I was wondering if anyone could ID the first two teeth (pictures 3, 4, 5, 6) and let me know if they are A. grandis or a lateral Isurus tooth. Also, could anyone ID the mako tooth (picture 7)? Is it C. hastalis, I. desori/oxyrinchus, or I. retroflexus/paucus? Thanks in advance!

Had a great time shark tooth hunting in a stream in Charleston, SC. Wish I knew what types of sharks they came from but pretty good haul I think!

Hey Everyone, very cool forum. I've been fascinated with fossils since I was a boy and recently had the opportunity to take my family on a fossil expedition to a barrier island in the Cooper River in Charleston, SC. Could anyone help me identify this tooth? From browsing your site and others I'm thinking Croc or Mosasaur. Thanks!

Hi fellow fossil hunters. I am new to the forum and learning the ropes. Please let me know if there's a better area to request finding other fellow fossil companions who may be interested in doing a fossil outing around the Summerville area or Charleston. I have been fossil hunting about three years and have been to one ditch on the outskirts of Summerville sc that yielded a few colorful teeth, but it is secluded and hasn't felt very safe. It is screenable since it is outside city limits. However I'd like to find some new places to try in the area. I did walk the creek on the side of the YMCA ball field but the bottom was very hard and unfruitful and I'm not even sure I was in the right place. Can anyone offer any suggestions on where I might try as I am fairly new. I'm not asking for everyone's "honey hole" as I understand it takes work to f -
These are three of my nicer beach-found megalodon teeth from here in Charleston SC. It just goes to show that you don't need to dive to find the big guys.

Today's fossil hunt with a few of the finds cataloged and posted: http://fossilforay.blogspot.com/2015/06/well-today-was-fun-fossil-hunt-for-sure.html I figured doing this via my blog rather than posting the tons of photos here would make it easier, I hope that's okay. I'm not sure of the ID on most of our finds. I'll make another blog entry with more cataloged over the next couple of days (I hope). Oligocene-Miocene Shark Tooth Identification - Trigonotodus? Isurus?

Hey Folks, I found this tooth yesterday at a dredge spoil site near Charleston SC (see post http://www.thefossilforum.com/index.php?/topic/37010-dredge-spoiled/). Material from this site is from many reworked layers, with finds ranging from Oligocene to Pliestocene epochs. The shark teeth are mostly from the Oligocene to Miocene. This tooth is peculiar - it has characteristics of an I. hastalis mako, but is very short with minute cusps. I considered Trigonotodus sp. as a candidate as well, but this tooth doesn't look quite like any examples I could find online. Any insight is much apprecia -
